Sustainable Incense Stick (Agarbatti) Manufacturing through a Solar-Integrated Circular Approach Empowering Women, Recycling Waste, and Advancing Clean Energy Solutions For Gauripur, Dhubri District, Assam
Project to be implemented by Bosundhara, Gauripur,Dhubri Assam, partnering with Climate Prexis
Proposed Project Concept (in breif)
The initiative promotes eco-friendly, semi-mechanized agarbatti production from waste flowers through women-led cooperatives. Flowers collected from temples and markets will be solar-dried, pulverized, and used as natural raw material to partially replace charcoal and synthetic binders. The processed material will be mixed and shaped into incense sticks using automatic machines, then perfumed, dried with a forced-draft fan, and packaged for sale. A 10 kWp solar-hybrid (on-grid with battery backup) system will power the unit, lowering energy costs, grid dependence, and emissions. Additionally, a solar-powered kiosk will support marketing at local fairs, enhancing visibility and sales. The model ensures sustainable operations, women’s employment, and a replicable pathway for green enterprise and inclusive economic growth.
