This was a long journey since 16th of July, 2007 with the community and for the community till before COVID-19. It ran smoothly and achieves some remarkable milestones in the field of Agri and Agri-allied Farm and Non-Farm sector. The “SPEAK-Society for People Empowerment & Action of Kochbehar” registered under Society Act, 1956, and worked rigorously at the community level, conducted skill training and sensitization Programme for artisan, farmers and women in last 12 years. We felt sorry thatSPEAK’s journey terminated statutorily, because of not renewed the registration of the Society. In COVID-19 period the office of the Register of the Society duly not entertained mass gathering for “Pandemic” Code of Conduct.

Then, the Board Members of the Society taken a special resolution for winding-up/dissolution, voluntarily on 15th of August, 2020 and constituted with some changes of the board-members. Once again, we revive our Organisation with same devotion and registered again under “TRUST ACT”in the name of “BOSUNDHARA” on September 16, 2020 with Rs. 5000/- as generic fund and donation of assets from “SPEAK-Society for People Empowerment & Action of Kochbehar”.

The journey that teachesus a lot about our destination

Bosundhara, starts its intervention with livelihood promotion initiatives for women and child upliftment as holistic development. To explore suchlivelihood initiatives, it realizes that initiatives should be taken for climate change adaptation and mitigation with availability of natural resources, according to local peoples earning habits and interceptive relationship of both. From such point of view Bosundhara starts its initiatives from backward villages of Coochbehar Districtand extend up toBrahmaputraValley of Lower Assam.
Our initiative which starts from farm sector livelihood and continued with Non-Farm Sector initiatives, when we understand and realize thatnon-farm sector isalso depriving since long decades.

Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are millions of ups and downs. It’s a journey of discovery

During this period, Bosundhara, with active support of NABARD came forward to participate in the farm and non-farm livelihood promotion activities among distress villagers in Panishala, Dawaguri, Chilakhana and Bararangras GP of Coochbehar District of West Bengal and at Gauripur municipality of Dhubri district of Assam.

“Hope” is like the sun, which as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us

Hence, from 2007 onwards, Bosundhara began to consolidate its focused only on two major themes: 1) Women Empowerment and livelihood promotion, 2) Climate Change and Environment Management, Bosundhara is now prominent player in west Bengal and beyond-being a multifaceted organisation providing field facilitation, institution building, capacity building and networking advocacy. Gradually Bosundhara, proliferated its activities on non-farm activities and from Coochbehar to one other district (Alipurduar) and now has field offices at Alipurduar and Gauripur of Assam.
