Resilient Farms, Restored Soils: Climate-Smart Agriculture Pilot Proposal for Alipurduar II Block, West Bengal

Details about proposed interventions
The proposed pilot project is designed as an integrated circular agriculture model, transforming paddy residues into biochar to enhance soil fertility while reducing open burning and greenhouse gas emissions. Mechanised biomass collection, solar drying, and pyrolysis form a closed-loop resource system, complemented by water-efficient Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), agroforestry buffers, solar fencing, and native sapling nurseries. Coupled with farmer cooperatives and capacity-building initiatives, this approach simultaneously addresses ecological restoration, climate resilience, and socio-economic benefits, creating a replicable benchmark model for sustainable, community-led agriculture in Alipurduar II Block.
