Background:
Assam’s economy is heavily reliant on agriculture, with the sector contributing significantly to the state’s Gross Domestic Product and providing livelihoods for a large portion of the population. The state’s agricultural landscape is characterized by a mix of traditional practices and modern advancements, with a focus on both food crops and cash crops like vegetable. In Assam there are particularly Paddy cultivation is the most prominent agricultural activity which occupying a large portion of the cropped area. Besides rice, other important crops include oilseeds, and vegetables. So Agriculture provides employment and livelihood support to a substantial percentage of the state’s population, particularly in rural areas.

IoT is crucial in agriculture because it enables precision farming, optimizes resource use, enhances crop and livestock monitoring, and improves overall efficiency and sustainability. By connecting various farm components to the internet, IoT provides real-time data and insights that empower farmers to make informed decisions, leading to increased productivity and reduced costs.

The project AI in agriculture in Assam will offer solutions for increased productivity, resource optimization, and sustainable farming practices, ultimately boosting farmer livelihoods and contributing to the state’s economic growth. By leveraging AI-powered tools, farmers can make data-driven decisions, improve crop yields, and minimize risks associated with weather variability and pest infestations.

Details of Proposal:
